MEET BRAD!

Brad is 27, living in the Dallas area. He is a sales consultant. He is the best brother and uncle to my kids I could ask for. My kids LOVE him to death and I can't wait to see what a great husband and father he will become. I know he wants to be both.

Most important though it is an Aggie! He loves his Fighting Texas Aggies and attends as many sporting events as he can. He graduated from there with a degree in Animal science ·Agriculture Development!

I think Brad would be a fun guy to get to know. He is always up for adventure and a laugh. I trust he will make a girl feel loved and special everyday!

New Year=New Me

Hello world!! After being missing in action I have to decided to blog through my weight loss journey. Let's just say after reaching the most I have EVER weighed in my life including being pregnant I decided I needed to take control of my life and my health. And turning 30 doesn't help either. The scale does not lie no.matter how much I wish they would.

I was approached by a friend to do the Advocare 24 day challenge so I looked into it and took the plunge.

I have officially completed day 1 and with a 3.31 weight loss.

Day 2 is currently under way and I just said no to a cookie delight at work with a table full of Yummy things including Tiffs Treats cookies.

This seems so hard but I have a goal and I need to stick to it.

Disney Fever

So, Yes, I just had my toes painted for Disney, but aren't they cute or what? Its less than a week and we will be @ the happiest place on earth!

Snow from H*LL

So for the most part I LOVE snow but not 3 straight days of ice/sleet then the 4th day of over 6" of snow! I would be okay with it if my husband got to stay home those 4 days but NO he is at work! Or that I didn't have to be held hostage on Monday at the hospital for over 16hrs because nobody wanted to drive in the ice. Today though my wonderful husband is out getting the table/chairs we rented for Kynlee's birthday party tomorrow, cake & helium! Even if nobody shows up to her party tomrorow we will have a perfect party anyways! It just makes me sad to think that most people are NOT going to venture out tomorrow for a little birthday party. Unless they are tired of being held hostage in their house and its a reason for them to get out. I am hoping a few do show up since I put lots of hard work and money in this party. The biggest reason is Kynlee, she just wont understand why nobody is coming! I keep telling her Jesus brought you snow for you birthday and she is believeing it now but I doubt will tomorrow. Please Please SUN come out and melt this snow, you will make the a very special 4yr old happy!

You seem like you have taken over my life...planning, ordering outfits, bows, rain gear, bags & just plain making sure I have everything I need to have a successful time there! I can't get enough of you.

I know I will see you in 44 days, but I can't get you off my mind. This kids are going crazy and can't wait to be there too! They already have a list of the characters they can't wait to meet.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique - you suckered me in! I was not going to make an appointment for Kynlee but I couldn't resist! Now I have to find her a new dress! She wants to be Sleeping Beauty-Aurora!

As for now, I am still planning and learning so much so I can make the most of our trip!

Christmas Cards

Christmas is my favorite time of the year and as many of you may know I LOVE to have my kids pictures taken. Then as far as family pictures we just of course do them because I know in twenty years I will for sure be glad I did. Christmas Cards are so hard for me to decide to send or not to send. But this year after actually having family pictures taken by a friend, Ambyr Porter I decided I needed some really great cards to go with such good pictures I now have of my family. After searching the web and local print shops I found some amazing cards from Shutterfly. Now its so hard to choose which one I like, There is over 700 choices, I mean are you guys kidding me, I can't make a decision between 2 not along that many. After searching many cards I have come up with just a few that I like and then of course you might see one of these as our 2010 Christmas Card in the mail to your family. Once the card is decided I must then chose the picture/pictures....ugh more decisions

No More Diapers.....ALMOST

Okay so I feel like screaming with JOY that I now have Kaden potty trained and he did it all by himself. He decided last Monday that he wanted to use his potty and wear big boy underpants, so we headed out to the store so he could pick them out. He chose Thomas the Train & Buzz/Woody ones, surprise surprise. Every day last week I called Shawn, Nana & Papa everytime he went since I was in so much surprise about it, I just couldn't believe it was so easy. I feel like I tried and tried with Kynlee for months and then when she turned 3 she was ready. SO, I wasn't planning on even working with Kaden until he was 3 which is AFTER our Disney trip. I was always told boys were so much harder than girls and plus hes the baby. He turned 2 1/2 last week and that must be the key, I mean I lightbulb must have went on in his head. We decided to wear pull ups when we went out of the house since I didn't know if he was play games or what. I did venture out to town with him in his big boy pants and he did not have an accident. So since he had done so well last week, I sent him to MDO with big boy pants on today. I was pretty sure when I picked him up he was going to have on different clothes. My heart raced as he walked outside to my surprise he still had on what he left in.....My heart sank this time, my baby is growing up. I can't believe it.

Now for going #2, Kynlee had a super hard time with that one. Kaden went yesterday & today on the potty all by himself! Again, I am still so shocked. Lets hope this lasts and I don't have to buy any more diapers!!

So Congrats to Kaden! Mommy is so proud of you.

So we have officially booked our next family vacation! We are going for 8 days/7nights to the most magical place on earth! I know its over a year away but I am pretty sure we can wait! The kids are going to love it! They will be 3 1/2 & 4 1/2 by the time we get there ! I can't think of a better place to take them. So Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Belle, Pocahontas, Mulan, Aurora & Snow White move on over our little princess will be waiting for you! Oh and Buzz & Woody you better get ready too because you will have one special boy that can't wait to blast off with you!!

So while the kids where at MDO today I did a little bargin shopping at 4 local targets scoring some AWESOME deals! Everything I bought was 75% off!

I spent a total of $326.70 and got $1306.80 worth of toys!! WOO HOO!!!

My World Upside Down

So this last week has definetly been the most stressful in a LONG time. We had our house sold for a great price, to a great lady but ended with us finding out we may be here for awhile. It ended with a low apprasial! It had to appraise for what she wanted to pay but will all the foreclosures around us it makes our house value drop! It was over 15K less than what it is on the tax rolls for! What how is that? So I now have a new battle with the tax office to lower my home value for my taxes. The buyer was kind enough to give us a copy of the appraisal so we can go fight our taxes! My heart is definelty broken, my head is spining, and I can't figure out how we are all going to get our house values up with all the foreclosures around! Our only hope is to try to sell by owner. We have started looking in to our options, but haven't decided on anything yet. Our contract with our realtor is until June 30 so until then we will be researching everything. It sounds bad but having to pay a realtor 6% to sell our home is what broke the deal! I know we all have jobs and the need to sell houses to make money but if I can do it and save us 15K on realtor fees than I will be able to sell my house for what it is appraised at without lossing any money! and get out of Red Oak! SO wish us luck as we embrace the next few months with trying to sell our house by owner!

with all the bad news this week, Shawn decided to take off work yesterday to spend time with us as a family. We first went to Hawaiian Falls with the kids in the morning, came home for their nap then went to an afternoon showing of Toy Story 3 then dinner at Chili's. Wow we did a lot yesterday and the kids had a BLAST! They were so well behaved, had fun and best part of all, we have one of our best family days together! I love my family and spending time together helped take our mind off of everything else that happened this week!

The above pictures mean so much, this was our first house. We picked the lot, the floor plan and everthing after! We watched it being built everyday and we have made it our first family home as well. Kynlee & Kaden have been brought home here from the hospital. After recieving an email that we would be given an offer on our house I almost lost it. Too many emotions, happy that our time has come to move up and on, happy that it FINALLY may sell after a year long battle with the bad housing market, but scaried to death of what comes next, where we will go, if the offer is worth taking, and also sad to leave our 1st home! When we got home last night I looked at the front of it and immediatly began thinking of everything we had done to make this a better home and OUR home! As for now there is too many what if's, too many factors in the equation. I am patiently waiting by my phone to hear from the realtor and when we know something I will share with all. Right now my mind is racing along with my heart! Praying that it all goes smoothly and I find my new dream home to make OUR home again.

Hospital Admission

Hey guys, I know everyone is wanting to know how Kynlee is and what in the world happened. We are currently on vacation in San Antonio, TX we have been having a super fun time and the kids are having a blast as well. Yesterday morning, me,nana, & uncle Brad took Kynlee to Fiesta Texas for a few hours, only after about 45 mins did a punk teenager cut us off when we were walking and tripped me and I was caring Kynlee at the time so, of course we both then fell resulting in Kynlee falling and hitting her head on the brick pavement. AND not once did that punk girl turn around, since her friends were obvisously more important. Kynlee immediately cried like normal and then still wanted to ride more rides, we then rode about 3 more rides and she just would start crying for no reason, so I assumed she had a headache and we should just watch the next Wiggles Show that at 12:30, we sat there and she just started to look worse saying her stomach hurt, in which I thought she probably meant she had some nausea. Then right before the show started she said she wanted to go, that was the #1 sign she didnt feel good. We carried her to the car and she slept the whole way home. Once we got back to the hotel room, she started vomiting several times then become lethargice and not responsive to us. She wouldn't talk, look or respond to our commands, we nana then called 911! Now let me talk about scary, it seemed like the ambulance took 30 mins to get here. The hardest part was trying to keep it together and trying not to worry about what could be wrong with her. Once I heard the sierens I rushed her down the stairs. I just wanted my baby to see me and hear me! She wasn't, she was out of it. The paramedics put her on the monitor and all I could see what her high blood pressure & low oxygen sats. They attempted to put her on a nasal canula and then the real Kynlee showed through a little bit, she fought them a little bit, then I started to hold the blow by in front of her face. I then asked to go the Children's hospital but they said they are on divert, which means not accepting new patients via transport. I said, Are you kidding me? So I asked to go the next best place. They said University Hospital. I said okay get us there. Once in the ambulance they called the hospital gave report then upgraded our status to a level 1 and the trauma team would be on stand by for us upon our arrival. I then knew this was gonna be the start of a long day. We arrived, the 1st thing I saw was the orange jump suit in shackles. In my head I am thinking where did they take us. I think immediately figured out we were at the Parkland of San Antonio. WOW!! The things we saw in the ER. After our arrival then began there work up. Starting with cutting her brand new clothes off, drawing blood, oxygen & a STAT head CT. I just sat back and watched them do their job and answered the finacial ladies 500 hundred questions. Soon I was able to go to her bedside. After the CT we were moved from the main bay to the side bay of the trauma room. We then sat there and listen/watched many other serious traumas come in. Shawn almost couldn't handle it, but I didn't want to be left alone in that room, with all the wierdo's. Soon peds resident came by to see Kynlee but she was fast asleep so just got a little history from us and told us we would be going to a room soon on the 9th floor. Her head CT came back and everything looked good so just a concussion. Once we got the the 9th floor I saw a playroom and more colorful walls but nothing to brag about. Our room is bigger than where I work so that is one good thing. The childlife specialist came to our room brought Kynlee a huge doll, playdoh & princess coloring books & crayons. Kynlee still wasn't feeling good so she wasn't interested. After our arrival to the room she still was throwing up everytime she sat up. Then after a couple hours in the room she perked up and is back to her old self. Kynlee is playing, running, talking & full of energy. It is so nice to see her feeling better. SO the last 24 hrs have been from one extreme to the other and I am glad to being going up hill. Lets just hope the drs get here soon so we can go home or back to the hotel atleast! Today is Kaden's 2nd Birthday! Happy Birthday baby boy! Happy Mother's day to all too!!

I will keep you guys updated but I think everything is going to be just fine!

I just don't get how I can read blogs EVERYDAY but can't update mine. Here is the last MONTH worth of stuff going on in the Berry household.

Spring Break week mom took off a day to take the kids to Six Flags with me, but after approaching HWY 360 traffic we decided to head to the mall and let the kids play and see the Easter Bunny, which Kaden had nothing to do with but Kynlee just LOVED him and can't wait for him to come this weekend! Next we went to go feed the fish at Joe Pool Lake Marina! The kids had a blast and Kaden was even eating the bread for the fish.

The kids had some pictures taken by a sweet lady that was building her portfolio so she used my kids and the best part was that it was FREE!

Last week we went to Disney on Ice, had 3 birthday parties to attend. We took many pictures but here are some that we LOVE:

OMG...what has happened in over a month at the Berry's house.....so much! I can't believe I haven't posted in so long, such a bad blogger. I look & read blogs everyday but can't seem to keep mine updated. So here we go. We have been busy busy over the last month, with Kynlee's 3rd Birthday, record snowfall in Texas, many many playdates with friends, house still for sale with increasing showings, work, super bowl, and lots of wedding/baby showers! Here are some pictures to show whats been going on in our house. I will try to be a better blogger this month!

Kaden has also started getting ECI services here at the house and I do think it is helping, we see a speech therapist & developmental therapist 4 times a month, he has picked up on the sign language like crazy and even saying more words, Last night he said "Bye Bye Nana" just plain as day, I was super excited!

Kynlee had her 3 yr dr appointment as well, her stats are as follows:
Weight 30 lbs
Height 37.5 inches

So Christmas has past along with the New Year and I have not written a post, I am so behind on updating and putting up pictures and have no time now. But We are all packed and ready for our trip to Grandville, MI!!! We made it by packing 2 suitcases, 1 backpack and 1 diaper bag along with 2 carseats and 1 stroller. I hope the kids will be well behaved on the plane. But my guess it that Kaden will not be good. Lately he is the one not wanting in the stroller, not walking but you carrying him and at 30 lbs of dead weight we no longer can carry him like we used to and he throws the BIGGEST fit EVER, you would think he was badly hurt. So please pray that on Wed that we make it through a 3 yr plane ride with a 20 month old & almost 3 yr old. Patience will be the answer I think and if they scream lets hope that I do not know anyone on the plane or ever see them again. I have plenty of snacks, games, crayons, toys, cars, DVD player, books packed and ALL NEW ones at that, lets hope it pays off. I will have plenty of snow pictures to show when we return but until then here are a few pictures of the snow we had on Christmas EVE this year in Texas!

The Princess and the Frog

Shawn & I took Kynlee to see her first real movie in the theater. We saw the new Disney movie The Princess and the Frog! She loved it. She did really well until about the last 1/4 of the movie she got a little antsy! Now every time we get in the car she askes to watch The Princess and the Frog and I have to explain that its only in the theater and we can't and then she cries/throws a fit and doesn't understand that part just yet. Of course I did take some pictures of this outing.

Baking Cookies with Nana

Yesterday, we stayed home in our PJ's and baked some cookies for santa with Nana. Kynlee had a blast and can't wait for santa to come, only 15 more days! She is really getting a hang of the Santa thing which means it is getting more exciting for us too.

Sp lots of stuff to update on. First, Nov 25 was Shawn's 28th Birthday, we celebrated by going to eat at Razoo's and then to see Santa with the kids and home to Nana & Papa's to celebrate with some ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery!

We celebrated Thanksgiving at our house with my family & Shawn's mom & brother and YES I cooked the entire meal with a little help from momma of course. Here is the family passed out and stuffed

We started black friday at Midnight and headed out to Toys R US, are you kidding me? I will NEVER go there again on Black Friday, me & mom then went to Old Navy and then grabed some breakfast at IHOP before braving the crowds at Walmart, I will say we came out with everything we were looking for. We then headed out to Allen Outlet Malls around 5:30 and I found our best buy for the day there at the COlumbia Outlet store, I was able to buy myself some ski pants and a jacket for $70 and some change out the door, WOW, I wasn't even looking for those and scored really big. Later that day after a quick nap we headed out to Six Flags Over Texas for some Holiday in the Park.

December is now here and we are not slowing down, besides the normal playdates with our friends we also meet yesterday at the mall with some other friends for a quick Santa visit and some shopping. Here is the video of the kids with Santa & pics of course. Thanks Nicky for coming all the way to see us! This was round 2 with Santa, Kynlee loves SANTA and is always talking about him, and Kaden doesn't like him as you can tell from the pictures.

So I ordered the kids new winter coats along with some ski bibs for our upcoming trip to Michigan....I was able to snap a few photos of Kynlee hammin it up for the camera.

Also, Kynlee has taken on the role of photographing us. She loves taking pictures but I hate her having my camera in her hands, I will be buying her that fisher price camera for Christmas. Here is her work from tonight:

Last night at dance, it was family visit night. Kynlee was accompined by her mommy, daddy, brother Kaden, Nana, Papa and Aunt Alli. She performed so well. Here are some pictures from last night:

Kaden had his 18 month checkup today...I will write another post about that but when I was there I was faced with the decision to give the kids the H1N1 vaccine. I made the decision to go ahead since I really don't want any swine in our household this winter. Kaden got the shot and Kynlee got the nasal mist.

Oh wait, I just found this picture. Thursday at MDO was the kids' Thanksgiving Feast, so I tried to dress them alike and take a picture before school, but this is what I got....Kaden trying to get away from Kynlee....this just makes me laugh since this is an everyday task for Kaden. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving........

over 40 hrs of work

So I have been super busy this week working almost 50 hrs by Sunday. I started off taking a review class for my CPN certification test this past Sunday, and I am proud to say that I have PASSED my exam and I am now a Certified Pediatric Nurse. In other words I have more initials to put after my name. Amanda Berry, BSN, RN, CPN!! Woo Hoo!!! I am so excited the test was a gruling 175 questions. After Sat & Sun at all day class, I went to another class ALL day on Mon & Thurs and now I have to work tonight and tomorrow night. All I can think of is that fat paycheck I will get in 2 wks. I couldn't tell you the last time I actually worked overtime. I am so tired that today I wanna do NOTHING, but my house and family need me more.

More exciting news is that we recently booked a trip in January to visit the inlaws in Michigan, we have already started planning for the airplane ride with 2 kids under3, packing enough clothes to stay warm, purchasing snow gear and more. WE are so excited though and can't wait to see snow and plus what a better way to celebrate my 28th Birthday while we are there.

And by the way where did October and half of November go??? Is Thanksgiving in 2 wks? Yes, which also means I need to by my husband a birthday gift and then before I know it, Christmas will be here.

I am so but I have not taken any pictures this week. I will for sure have some to share next week.

Our Halloween Festivities

This week was another busy one for use. We had a PJ party at MDO on Thursday, the kids wore there Halloween PJ's to school and came home with more than enough goodies! Then Kynlee wore her Minnie Mouse costume to dance and received some cute gifts from her friends there! Friday we had our 1st Annual Halloween Playgroup Party, the turnout was great, food looked awesome and the kids had a blast & looked cute of course. Saturday's festivites started off bad, we went to the local Red Oak Fall Festival and it was HORRIBLE!!! We left and went to Rachael's house for some fun trick or treating!!! Kynlee was so cute and said Trick or Treat at everyhouse and then followed by a Thank You! She will definetly remember Halloween from now on. We will be in candy overland at our house for the next month! Maybe we can really get done with this potty training with good candy to brib with. Busy Busy Busy....We LOVE Fall!

My oh My! We have been so busy here! After 2 wks of straight rain we are loving this fall like weather. Last week we went with Nana to the State Fair of Texas. Kynlee & Kaden loved seeing all the animals, backyard circus, and of course Big TEX. We also enjoyed some fried butter, yes BUTTER! It was much like a biscuit.

We also went out to Country Critters in Alvarado, which has a pumpkin farm. There was a petting zoo, train playground, tractor rides, bounces house and of course the kids got to pick out a pumpkin too. Then we went to listen to a pumpkin story while enjoying some cookies, apple juice and pumpkin bread.

On Friday Night we headed out to Fright Fest at Six Flags over Texas, we rode the usual rides and did a mini hay maze with the kiddos. Then we headed out Saturday morning to Houston for a wedding. We left Kaden with nana & papa. This was Kynlee's first wedding to go to. She did pretty good. Whew, that was a lot in one week.

This week so far we have gone to see our local Red Oak Fire department. The firefighters were so nice, they showed us were they live, sleep, eat and work! They even extended their 75 ft ladder for the kids, let them go inside a fire truck. We couldn't have had a better experience.

The rest of the week is slowing down though. Mommy has been off for almost 10 days and is having a great time relaxing and enjoying her kids. So tomorrow we are going to Chuck E Cheese, this will be Kaden's first visit! Lets hope he likes it. Then mommy is resting up for a busy weekend at work. Hope everyone else is enjoying this nice weather.

Midlothian Fall Festival

Fun Fridays!

So every Friday it seems like we have something really fun planned! Today was no different, we went to Wiggly Play Center in Frisco, TX, yes we drove that far for a playdate. It was so much fun and both of the kids loved it. After we left there we were able to go see baby Carson. It only took me 3 months to get there but Kynlee LOVED him, all she wanted to do was hold the baby. As far as Kaden, I didn't even think he knew there was a baby there. So here at the Berry household it has been really busy. Kaden's allergies put his reactive airway disease in to full blown. He is now on breathing treatments every morning and every night with the as needed ones in between. Look how sad he looks

This picture was last Friday morning, and a week of treatments he has now gotten used to them and sits still all by himself. But on Monday night we were having to hold him down to get him to keep that dinosaur mask on, not fun AT ALL.

Last Monday morning, we had an enchanted princess playdate at my house here is our princess Kynlee all dolled up and ready for her friends to join her

The top I had ordered for her party did not come in in time so here is Kynlee after the party when the cute corset top finally arrived....I really think she is growing up....and of course is a princess

Later this week we also had a park playdate, the kids loved the park and the best part was it was no higher than 85 degrees outside....perfect for an afternoon at the park

I have also decided that the kids will be Mickey & Minnie Mouse for Halloween this year.... I have just a sneak peak of how cute they will be this year. Kaden already has his costume and hopefully I will be picking up Kynlee's costume today!!! Then of course I am going to have their pictures taken for real.

Then yesterday, Sunday, we took Nana to Six Flags with us. Kynlee wakes up every morning asking to go there and so we couldn't pass up going on Sunday. It was great, not busy at all and plus Kynlee has now officially rode her 1st roller coaster, this is because she passed the 36" mark! Yay! I will have to post pictures later since Shawn stole my camera for work today and I haven't uploaded the pictures yet....I will tonight though!

Another Day at Six Flags

We just got home from a very hot, exhausting but fun day at Six Flags Over Texas with the Prado Family (Abel, Tiffany, Kenley & Nelson). Thanks guys for coming with us! The park was soooo crowded I could not believe it. We did manage to ride some rides with *4* kids 2 and under! 1st Day of MDO

Bitter sweet day! I actually think I was more excited to take the kids to MDO today than they were. Today was the 1st time EVER for Kaden to go to MDO! But I was more worried about Kynlee, since she does have new teachers! Kaden got lucky and he has Kynlee's same teachers from last year and I can't say enough good things about both of them! Kynlee didn't understand why she couldn't stay in the same room but once she found her new classroom and her old friends she jus took off and never looked back. I hope they both have a great day and mom will enjoy the quiet house for 5 hrs!

So I have been such a BAD blogger lately, even though I read them daily I can't seem to make myself update. But I promised Mimi that I would write about my waffle/sandwich maker experience. So must of you guys know I have been trying to potty train Kynlee this past week. Lets Say Friday she was 5 for 6 for me and then when I went to work this weekend she went "#2" for Daddy everywhere. But for the most part she did very well and today so far she is 2 for 2. But going #2 on the potty is 0 for 10. Most people do say that is the hardest part and I believe so. We have been using M&M's and painting fingers and toes as potty rewards. I also let her go naked during the day and that seems to be working. Daddy did pull ups after the 1st accident and she did do good in those too. I take her every hr and at least "try" to go potty, so I spend most of my days in the bathroom recently. Speaking of its time to try again! I hope all this effort will soon pay off.

Well I have been such a bad blogger lately, the Berry house is so busy! Here is what has been going on lately here:

4. Kaden got his 3rd tooth at 14 months old, but you would never know he eats a ton

7. We had an offer made on our house that is for sale, but it didn't work out

Man, last night was amazing to see the new Cowboys Stadium and then to see the Queen & King of Country perform with Lee Ann Womack & Blake Shelton starting it off. WOW the whole thing was amazing. We had lower level seats and those TV's are something everyone needs to see at least once. During the performance George Strait had Jerry Jones open the retractable roof for the first time ever! I mean AMAZING. The concert started at 5:30 and ended around 11:30. The traffic was NOT bad at all for us, which we were glad for. I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

We talked to Dr. Wagner about him STILL not sleeping through the night and wanting a bottle. My question was, how do I take him off the bottle if that's the only thing he wants in the middle of the night? Dr Wagner's response was, Do both at the same time? Yes, cold turkey. Stop the bottle all the time and let him cry himself to sleep. She said to start when we were ready, but breaking habits is also hard to do. SO, last night we decided it was time. Kaden only had 1 bottle yesterday before nap time and that was it. Shawn put him to bed at 9:45 with NO bottle and he cried on & off for 45 mins. When he was crying, it was horrible. He cried so hard. Shawn even tried to rock him to sleep because he felt so bad. He was successful until he went to lay him in the crib. So we had no choice but to let him cry it out. He did his usual waking up at 2am but with no bottle or mommy he only cried for 20 mins, which was better than I thought it was going to be. Today on the other hand has already been to a rough start. I think he is in shock with NO bottle. So off to play with him. Will update soon on the no bottle thing and hopefully its going to get easier everyday.

San Antonio Vacation 2009

We just got back from San Antonio on Sunday as we took the kids there on vacation and to celebrate our 4 year anniversary this past Thursday. We stayed at Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch and it was amazing. Okay, so we just booked a last minute trip to Cancun......we are staying at Excellence Playa Mujeres. We are super excited and looking forward to some R&R together and no kids for 4 days. I do think I will miss hearing Momma all day though. We are traveling with my brother and his girlfriend. Its Alli's 21st birthday and her graduation from Texas A&M celebration. This is a top notch 5 star, adult only resort. Check out the video. Its amazing. Only 5 weeks from today we will be there. So watch out the DIET has begun for real. We return the day before Kynlee's big surgery, so it will be a little while before the pictures are up to see. I plan on taking tons and super excited to have someone with us to take our pictures more too.

I know you are jealous, I would be. I can't stop thinking about it I am so excited.

Kynlee & Kaden (and mommy) had a super busy week with first a playdate egg hunt, Kynlee had an egg hunt as MDO, City of Red Oak Egg hunt and then Midlothian's egg hunt today. We also went to take bluebonnet pictures today and then a trip to see the Easter Bunny. After we got home the kids got an early Easter present, a water and sand table. Bedtime!

We are so excited that now after Daddy gets home we have more day light to play. So we e have adapted to a new bedtime routine now. We eat dinner, play outside, bath, and then play some more inside before bed. We love that we can play outside now and Kynlee would live out there if we would let her. She puts up a good fight and screams and cries the whole way inside.

June 1st....SURGERY

Okay, So after a long day with Kynlee yesterday and discovering she will need to have to surgery to fix her VUR. She had a VCUG yesterday morning reveiling that her VUR has gotten worse not better. We then met with Dr. Strand following her VCUG and he checked her kidneys and they looked great. I have attached some information off of Childrens.com to share about what is going on with her. I hope you all find this informative. Her surgery is scheduled for June 1st at 7:30am and she will have to stay overnight in the hospital and hopefully be released the next day if all goes well. The exciting part is that she will be staying the night on the floor I work on. Yay! my friends will be her nurses and that makes the choice to do the surgery easier on me. Even though no mother wants their child to undergo any type of surgery, EVER.

Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)

What is vesicoureteral reflux (VUR)?

Vesicoureteral reflux occurs when urine dwelling in the bladder flows back into the ureters and often back into the kidneys. The bladder is the hollow, muscular organ that stores urine before urination occurs. The bladder has three small openings; two connect the ureters where urine is drained down from the kidneys, and one connects the bladder to the urethra where urine exits the body.

The ureters are funnel-shaped tubes that carry urine from the kidneys. Ureters enter the bladder at a diagonal angle and have a special one-way valve system that normally prevents urine from flowing back up the ureters in the direction of the kidneys. When a child has vesicoureteral reflux, the mechanism that prevents the back-flow of urine does not work, allowing urine to flow in both directions. This condition is most frequently diagnosed in infancy and childhood. A child who has vesicoureteral reflux is at risk for developing recurrent kidney infections, which, over time, can cause damage and scarring to the kidneys.

What causes vesicoureteral reflux?

There are many different reasons why a child may develop vesicoureteral reflux. Some of the more common causes include:

VUR commonly occurs in children whose parents or siblings have the irregularity.
Children who are born with neural tube defects such as spina bifida may have VUR.
During infancy, the disease is more common among boys because as they urinate there is more pressure in their entire urinary tract. In early childhood, the irregularity is more common in girls.
VUR can occur in children with other urinary tract abnormalities such as posterior urethral valves, ureterocele, or ureter duplication.
VUR is more common in Caucasian children than in African-American children.

What are the symptoms of vesicoureteral reflux?

The following are the most common symptoms of vesicoureteral reflux. However, each child may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:

urinary tract infection (urinary tract infections are uncommon in children younger than 5 years and unlikely in boys at any age, unless VUR is present)
trouble with urination including:
- urgency
- dribbling
- wetting pants
an abdominal mass may be detected from a swollen kidney
poor weight gain
high blood pressure

The symptoms of VUR may resemble other conditions or medical problems. Always consult your child's physician for a diagnosis.

How is vesicoureteral reflux diagnosed?

VUR can often be detected by ultrasound before a child is born. If there is a family history of VUR, but your child has no symptoms, your child's physician may elect to perform a diagnostic test to rule out VUR. Diagnostic procedures for VUR may include:

voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) - a specific x-ray that examines the urinary tract. A catheter (hollow tube) is placed in the urethra (tube that drains urine from the bladder to the outside of the body) and the bladder is filled with a liquid dye. X-ray images will be taken as the bladder fills and empties. The images will show if there is any reverse flow of urine into the ureters and kidneys.
renal ultrasound - a non-invasive test in which a transducer is passed over the kidney producing sound waves which bounce off the kidney, transmitting a picture of the organ on a video screen. The test is used to determine the size and shape of the kidney, and to detect a mass, kidney stone, cyst, or other obstruction or abnormalities.

What is ureteral reimplant surgery?

Ureteral reimplant surgery is a procedure to change the way an abnormally positioned ureter, the tube from which urine leaves the kidneys, connects with the bladder. An abnormally positioned ureter can produce vesicoureteral reflux, the backflow of urine from the bladder into the ureter and up to the kidney. Normally, the ureter enters the bladder, which is made out of muscle, in such a way that urine is allowed to enter the bladder but not allowed to back up to the kidney. Reflux occurs when the ureter enters the bladder abnormally. As a result, the muscle backing of the bladder doesn't completely cover the ureter and urine flows back toward the kidney.

Are any artificial parts used in ureteral reimplant surgery?

No. The original ureter is surgically re-positioned or reimplanted in the bladder wall. The end of the ureter is surrounded by bladder muscle in this new position, which prevents urine from "backing-up" or refluxing, toward the bladder.

Where is the incision?

A small incision is made in the lower abdomen (below the bikini line). All stitches are dissolvable. Occasionally, there may be one stitch in the skin to secure a catheter that will be removed. A clear plastic dressing that will be removed two days after surgery will cover the incision. Little pieces of tape, called "steri-strips," along the incision eventually will curl up and fall off. You may begin bathing your child after the dressings have been removed and all catheters are no longer in place.

Are any tubes left in place after the surgery?

A bladder catheter usually is placed to be sure urine is draining well while healing takes place. This is removed two to three days after the surgery or after the epidural catheter is removed. A catheter in the ureter may be left in place that comes out through a small incision in the abdomen. Once it is removed, a small gauze bandage can be placed over the site, which should heal very quickly. Fluid may leak from the site for a day or so, which is normal.

How long will the surgery take?

The surgery takes about two to three hours. The surgical operating room nurse will give updates on the status of your child's surgery.

What can I expect after the operation?

Many children will have caudal or epidural nerve blocks - pain medications administered through tubes in the back so they wake up without pain. Alternatively, your child may be a good candidate for a patient controlled analgesia (PCA) pump. This involves infusion of the pain medication intravenously to maintain a more consistent level of pain medication. Please ask your anesthesiologist what is the best form of pain control for your child. A prescription for pain medication - usually Tylenol with codeine -- that can be taken orally will be given at the time of hospital discharge.

Will my child have any problems urinating after surgery?

It is common after this type of surgery that a child experiences bladder spasms or intermittent cramping, urinary frequency, urinary incontinence and losing small amounts of blood-tinged urine. If the symptoms become a problem, a medication called Ditropan (oxybutynin) may be prescribed. It won't eliminate all spasms, but should decrease discomfort. Having your child sit in a shallow tub of warm water may provide relief. Placing a damp warm washcloth on the perineum also may make your child more comfortable.

Older girls and boys may get upset if they experience loss of urine control, especially if it is blood-tinged. Your child could wear light mini-pads in his or her underwear until this problem resolves. In some children, the urinary frequency and bloody urine may continue for two to three weeks. This is normal. Reassure your child that control will return as the bladder heals.

Are there any problems that I should be looking for?

Please contact the Pediatric Urology office at UCSF Children's Hospital at (415) 353-2200 if you have any concerns about your child's progress after surgery. If your child exhibits any of the following, call our office:

Temperature greater than 101 degrees F
Excessive bleeding from the incision (some spotting, or blood stains on the dressing, is normal)
Extreme irritability
Inability to tolerate liquids
Continuous vomiting
Inability to urinate

What side effects do the medications have?

Ditropan (oxybutynin) may cause flushed cheeks, warm skin, dry mouth and decreased appetite. A poor appetite is not unusual but we ask that you frequently offer your child fluids - a few sips every 15 minutes or so -- to maintain adequate urine output. Offer Popsicles, Jell-O and soup, if your child enjoys these. Smoothies made of blended fruit and yogurt are a terrific source of vitamins and usually are well tolerated. You may need patience and persistence as you offer fluids. Sometimes, offering your child's favorite foods can help return an appetite.

Morphine, Droperidol or Demerol are among the medications your child may be given while in the hospital. Droperidol or Compazine also may be given for nausea, vomiting and pain. These medications may make your child drowsy. Some children react to pain medication by becoming overexcited and nervous or developing a rash. If this happens, tell the nurse and the medication will be changed.

Before discharge, the medication will be switched to Tylenol with codeine (Tyco). This comes in both tablet and liquid form. The codeine part of this medication makes some children constipated, so it's important to encourage your child to be as active as possible, and to provide plenty of liquids, fruit and vegetables. Gradually, you can start to manage your child's discomfort with plain Tylenol or with Children's Motrin. Within a few days to a week after discharge you should begin to notice your child feeling more like him or herself.

What is the follow-up after surgery?

Your child usually will be discharged on the second to fourth day after surgery, depending on your child's recovery. If a drain or catheter is in place, please make an office appointment for one week after surgery to remove it. If there is no drain, schedule an appointment for four to six weeks after the surgery. Children usually have an ultrasound at the time of the follow-up appointment. It's important that your child continue the low-dose antibiotics. You may be given the Ditropan and Tylenol or Tylenol with codeine to relieve spasms during this time before your return visit. The antibiotics given at the time of hospital discharge should be completed by this visit and your child should resume taking his or her pre-operative maintenance antibiotic daily.

One month after the surgery, your child will be scheduled for an ultrasound of the kidneys. This test tells us if there is any blockage at the site of the surgery. It doesn't let us know if the reflux is corrected; only a cystogram can show that. Four to six months after the surgery, your child should have a voiding cystogram (VCUG). If both of these studies are normal and reflux has resolved, your child may discontinue the low-dose, maintenance antibiotics. Your child should then visit us for a follow-up in one year for a blood pressure test and to check the kidneys with another ultrasound.

Will my child have any more urinary tract infections after the surgery?

Some children are particularly prone to urinary tract infections for unknown reasons. They may continue to get infections even after a successful surgery. However, the difference is the infected urine doesn't back up into the kidney. This should prevent kidney damage. These children typically don't have a fever with these infections.

So we decided to get their haircut yesterday. I took them by myself so was not able to get any photos during the cuts it self since I had to hold them both. Here are some pictures right after we got home of Kaden's new cut! I will try to post some of Kynlee, if I can get her still enough to take one, hopefully tomorrow before school I can get one.

Yes, Kynlee had her pictures taken again this weekend by Mrs. Erin for her casting call. Kynlee was not in the best mood after being woken up from her nap on the way to Ft Worth but I think they turned out pretty good! Thanks Erin!

Just a couple of updates. We have truly been enjoying our warm days this weekend outside. Kynlee could live outside if we would let her. She loves the freedom of just running, jumping, swinging and sliding. This summer is going to be so much fun.

Kaden also had he own playdate without his sister and just for "creepy crawlers". This playdate was for those who can't walk yet. He had about 4 friends over and they ALL loved to play with each other while us mom's just talked. Here is one of his "girl"friends Kendra too.

Saturday night must have been a fluke, Kaden slept through the night. I was hoping for that again last night but it didn't happen. He still got up at 4:15 to eat then he is still sleeping at 9"1 this mornign along with Kynlee. I am loving the time change. It seems the darkness has kept them in bed longer.

Kaden says "What are you talking to me?"

Last but not least we put our house up for sale this past Thursday. Now we are just anxiously waiting for the right buyer. Where are we moving? That is the most asked question right now by everyone. Well, we really don't know but somewhere close to here. We keep looking around too but don't want to get our hopes up. Shawn spent all weekend outside working on the "curb" appeal. I do have to say it looks really good!

GEORGE STRAIT, Reba McEntire here we come!

We are going to be in section 121, row 15. This is the hall of fame section. I was able to find the presale code and buy tickets before they go on sale to the public on Saturday. We are going to have great seats and can't wait to see the new stadium. This concert is going to rock on!

New Product & I LOVE it

Okay, so after being a huge fan on J&J No More Tears & Bedtime Bath(my favorite smell). I was walking in Target the other day and I noticed a BLUE J&J bottle and thought, oh that must be new what is it? I walked over to check it out and it read- Baby Bubble Bath & Wash. I immediatley opened it and smelled it and it then found it self in my basket. The smell is wonderful for both boy & girl. Right now both my kids bathe together so what a wonderful idea. Kynlee gets bubbles and Kaden doesn't have to smell like a girl and it can be used as wash too. I love new products!

Then, today I was looking for a picture to post on my blog and also found they have another new product that looks just as interesting. These are to celebrate 50yrs of Johnson & Johnson. I can't wait to go back to target and look for this. I love that it is foam and no more making my own foam with the wash rag. Kynlee is also all about washing herself and with this she can do it!

So I took the kids today for their well child check ups. Kaden is catching up to Kynlee fast! He about to start fighting back so she better watch out since he's almost bigger than her.
